Puppets. Costumes. Aliens. Rock Opera.

The Scooty & JoJo Show is putting on Space Invasion, an encore performance of last year’s Alien Queen—the musical that combined the music of the legendary band with the characters and world of the legendary movie … and this time around, they’ve added a full choir!

I missed the concert last year and I’ve been kicking myself ever since. Then a couple days ago I was coming back from brunch in Andersonville when I ran into a young woman sauntering down the street in a homemade alien costume followed by a dude with a camera. After thinking in my head, “Get away from her you bitch!” I took a flyer from the photographer and realized I had a second chance to see the show.

So this Friday, June 1, at 9pm is the only showing at the Metro. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The concert this year is a benefit, raising money for the GoGo Legit Campaign. I don’t know much about Scooty and JoJo, but it looks like it’s a fundraiser so they can get legally married and adopt their own kids. Sounds great to me—but honestly, I’d check out the show no matter where the money was going.

Oh, and the show also boasts an inter-species dance party. I don’t know what that is, but I’m sure it’s going to be so awesome it’s ridiculous. Game over, man.
